How I Rescued My Jellyfin Admin Account After a Bizarre Startup Glitch

Date: July 13, 2025
Environment: Linux Mint running Jellyfin server

Background
Environment: Linux Mint running Jellyfin server
Access methods in use:
◦ Local LAN access on port 8096
Symptom:
Remote access via Tailscale VPN and DuckDNS dynamic DNS
◦ Quick Connect (device approval) still worked
◦ Manual login at http://<your-server>:8096 always returned "invalid
username or password"

The Story

I’ve spent countless evenings tinkering with my Jellyfin media server, but nothing prepared me for the eight-hour rabbit hole I fell into today. This morning, I tried to log in to manage my libraries—and got an “invalid username or password” message, even though nothing else had changed. Here’s the story of how I chased phantom users, battled locked-out wizards, and finally exorcised the gremlins from my setup.

The Day It All Broke

I woke up, poured my coffee, and navigated to http://my-server:8096. Instead of the familiar dashboard, I was greeted by the awkward sight of the setup wizard—only rather than resetting it, Jellyfin skipped straight to the login screen. My one and only admin account wouldn’t accept its own credentials.

- Quick Connect on my phone still worked (it approved new sessions just fine), but
- Manual login always spit back “invalid username or password.”

No error messages in the logs, no disk space warnings, no sudden system updates—just a lockout of my sole admin account.

Wild Goose Chases (and FFmpeg)

First, I assumed the password database was corrupted. Boldly, I opened the SQLite file and ran:

`sql
UPDATE Users SET Password='MyPlainPassword' WHERE Username='AdminUser';`

No dice. My login still failed. That’s when I realized—Jellyfin hashes everything.

Next, I dug into the Jellyfin CLI, hoping it could export or reset hashes. It returned only inscrutable IDs, no way to reseed my password.

At my wit’s end, I installed FFmpeg on a hunch from a forum thread suggesting missing media dependencies can cause cascade failures. I rebooted, retried the login—still locked out.

The Breakthrough in the Logs

Frustration mounting, I ran the live log stream:

`bash
journalctl -u jellyfin -f`

During a login attempt, I finally saw it:

> DbUpdateConcurrencyException
> The database operation was expected to affect 1 row(s), but actually affected 0 row(s).

In plain English: Jellyfin tried to update my admin record…but couldn’t find it. Something in the database didn’t match the server’s memory of its own users.

Exorcising the Phantom User

1. Reset the Wizard Flag
My interrupted setup had marked the wizard “completed,” so I forced it back on in /etc/jellyfin/system.xml:

`xml
<IsStartupWizardCompleted>false</IsStartupWizardCompleted>`

Restarted Jellyfin. The wizard reappeared—great—but still refused my admin credentials due to the same concurrency error.

2. Hunt Down the Stub Record
I stopped the service, opened the database, and listed users:

`bash
sudo systemctl stop jellyfin
sqlite3 /var/lib/jellyfin/data/jellyfin.db "SELECT Username FROM Users;"`

I found two entries:
1. My real admin account
2. A ghostly stub user left behind by the half-built wizard

3. Delete the Stub
With one line, I banished the phantom:

`sql
DELETE FROM Users WHERE Username='TempHashUser';`

4. Restart and Triumph
`bash
sudo systemctl start jellyfin`

This time, the setup wizard accepted my admin username and password without complaint. I breezed through library setup, and all my media appeared exactly as before.

Cleaning Up & Lessons Learned

1. Sanitize your config: I double-checked system.xml for leftover <Password> tags or test flags—nothing sensitive remained.
2. Verify integrity:
   `bash
   sqlite3 /var/lib/jellyfin/data/jellyfin.db "PRAGMA integrity_check;"

→ ok
   `
3. Test remote access: Tailscale and DuckDNS login still worked over mobile data.

Key takeaways:

- Quick Connect can mask deeper auth failures.
- A single stub user in the DB can block the entire wizard.
- Jellyfin hashes credentials—don’t try plaintext injection.
- Real-time logs (journalctl -f) are your best friend for hidden errors.
- Always back up both your database and config before major surgery.

Final Thoughts

Eight hours felt like forever, but walking through every twist—wrong turns included—gave me an intimate understanding of Jellyfin’s inner workings. Now, when I grab my popcorn and fire up my Plex-killer server, I do so with total confidence that my admin account is bulletproof.

May this tale save you from sleepless nights and blind password strikes. If your Jellyfin ever locks you out, remember: the ghost in your DB could be the key to getting back in.

Happy streaming! 🎬✨

🛠️ Linux Mint XFCE Installation & Bootloop Recovery on Sony VAIO
---
⚠️ Issue Overview
After a fresh Mint install, the system entered a bootloop, stuck at the VAIO splash screen, never reaching GRUB. EFI variables appeared inaccessible, and boot entries weren't sticking.
---
🧪 Initial Diagnostics & Partition Discovery
Commands used from live USB:
`bash
lsblk -f # To see partitions and types
sudo blkid # To confirm partition labels and types`
Identified:
- sda1 as EFI
- sda2 as root (/)
- sda3 as home (/home)
- sda4 as swap
---
🧱 Attempted GRUB Reinstallation

Chroot Process:
`bash
sudo mount /dev/sda2 /mnt
sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/boot/efi
sudo mount --bind /dev /mnt/dev
sudo mount --bind /proc /mnt/proc
sudo mount --bind /sys /mnt/sys
sudo chroot /mnt`

GRUB Install & Update:
`bash
grub-install --target=x86_64-efi --efi-directory=/boot/efi --bootloader-id=GRUB
update-grub`

Sony VAIO Quirk Handling:
`bash
mkdir -p /boot/efi/EFI/Boot
cp /boot/efi/EFI/GRUB/grubx64.efi /boot/efi/EFI/Boot/bootx64.efi`

Outcome: GRUB still not detected on boot due to suspected NVRAM lock.

---
🧰 Boot Repair Attempt
`bash
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:yannubuntu/boot-repair
sudo apt update
sudo apt install boot-repair
boot-repair`

Result:
- Error: "EFI variables are not supported on this system"
- Confirmed /sys/firmware/efi and /sys/firmware/efi/efivars were populated
- This confirmed UEFI boot but likely firmware lock on EFI variable writing
---
🚀 Successful Fix via rEFInd

Installed rEFInd from live session:
`bash
sudo apt install refind
sudo refind-install --usedefault /dev/sda1`

Verified:
- refind_x64.efi in /boot/efi/EFI/refind/
- bootx64.efi in /boot/efi/EFI/Boot/

Reboot Result:
- rEFInd screen appeared
- Manual selection of grubx64.efi booted Linux Mint successfully
---
🧼 Post-Boot Cleanup & Config Update
Once inside Mint XFCE:
`bash
sudo update-grub # Refresh GRUB config`

Note: refind-mkconfig not available via apt; rEFInd autodetection works or can be manually edited in refind.conf.
---
✅ Final Boot Health Status
- System boots via rEFInd reliably
- GRUB is functional when launched via rEFInd
- No persistent bootloop
- NVRAM still locked, but bypassed successfully via fallback bootloader path
---

Hope this guide helps anyone who needs this. I just spent 5 hours troubleshooting this.

Resizing / Merging the EXT4 Partition

This is coming due to a personal pain point and the unavailability of a noob friendly guide online.

Context

I have a Laptop with Linux Mint and Windows 10 OS. At the time of installing Linux Mint I underestimated my usage and kept the ext4 partition size just a little more than as recommended on Linux Mint website which is just bare-bones. After some updates and installing few applications I was quickly running out of space.

Problem Statement

After freeing up some harddisk space i was able to create some a new blank partition but after trying various different tools - Aomi, EaseUs, default windows tool, Disks (Mint default), Minitool, PartitionMaster and Disk Genius (The tutorial makes it seem like it is so easy with DiskGenius tool), everything failed giving one reason or the other.  I also tried using Ubuntu on USB to try use ther default tool but that did not work either even after booting through USB which means my hard drive was unmounted.

Problem Persists: Ext4 Partition was still the same size.

Solution

Before getting to that EaseUs literally tricked me into buying their product. I downloaded the demo version and it demoed that it can easily resize my EXT4 but to actually resize it i need to buy the full product, these are such shady practices esp coz that didnt work.

Here is what worked for me step by step:

  1. I downloaded Gparted Live USB from here: https://gparted.org/liveusb.php
  2. Then I created a bootable USB (Instruction can be found on the link posted above). One can use Linux or Windows to create the GParted bootable USB.
  3. I booted my windows and then clicked the power icon and then pressed 'Shift' key before clicking the shutdown button (Not sure if this is necessary but i had to be sure). Also keep the 'Shift' Key pressed when clicking on shutdown.
  4. Now plug in the USB, go to the BIOS Menu of your PC / Laptop and boot from the USB. On my Laptop pressing 'F2' after pressing power on takes me to bios Menu but on some laptops it can be 'F11' key so check for your Model.
  5. Once booted, I was able to exted the EXT4 partition using the GUI of GParted. Please note that I had already created the Unallocated free space using windows default disk manager. If you have not done so you can do that before this step using GParted easily.

That's it enjoy your Linux with new added space. Until next time, Cheers.

Pedestrian Safety- New innovative KickStarter Project

How many times have you been driving at night and then suddenly see someone crossing the road or running by the roadside or may be walking their dog ? Sometimes you see a pedestrian really close to your car when you turn. Many a times we all have faced this situation and by the time the person reaches our view (Due to cars headlight limitations) its really late or one has very short reflexive time to brake.
Life is valuable and it can not be given back once gone. Not just life but scientists have not yet been able to grow human body parts independently in a lab, life and limb both are invaluable. One such product is innovative and looks to do exactly that, save or atleast help save life and limb.

We all know that accidents can and will happen, that was you take preventive measures, Emergency lights, indicator lights, airbags in the car are all there to help us when the accident does happen, but what do we have to help pedestrians, people who are either taking a walk at night, walking their dog, may be walking home after a late day at work. The situation is going to change now after one kickstarter project wants to change this with a nifty and easy solution.

Find more details about the project by visiting the following link: There is a nice informative video which also shows the operation of the product on the same page and the product can be ordered from there.

No Name Folder on Windows 8,8.1 and 7 Desktop, can not be deleted, keeps coming back after refreshing desktop.

I am writing about this problem as I searched through for a solution and I could not find a proper solution. Here I am writing a non confusing solution.

What Does not Work ?
First thing you will notice is right clicking only gives you three options Cut, delete and Create Shortcut, so there is not much that can be established with that. Every time the folder is deleted it will come back once you refresh the desktop or press F5. There are many things that do not work which include using various registry cleaner software like Ccleaner.

Reason for the problem
The reason is the installation or un-installation of Office products (2013, 2016 etc).

Solution / What works and what to do ?

Make sure to back up your registry and create a restore point before you start.

Open your File Explorer / my computer and then navigate to desktop folder here.
You will see the No Name folders here, just click on the folder and in the details you can see the folder name.
  1. For me and for many others one of the names was  {0875DCB6-C686-4243-9432-ADCCF0B9F2D7} and the other folder name was {138508BC-1E03-49EA-9C8F-EA9E1D05D65D}
  2. Now press Windows and R button and type regedit and press enter.
  3. Now search for 0875DCB6-C686-4243-9432-ADCCF0B9F2D7. Find each and every key and values that are returned with the exact same value and delete those. Repeat the process by searching for 138508BC-1E03-49EA-9C8F-EA9E1D05D65D and deleting the entries.
  4. Refresh the Desktop. the folders would be gone.
This worked for me and hopefully would work for everyone.

NOTE -
Repeating myself - Make sure to back up your registry and create a restore point before you start.
Playing with registry is dangerous so I am not liable for anything that goes wrong because of your actions.

Windows 8.1 update then system refresh and the problems

Dear Readers,
Microsoft released it's windows 8.1 update after almost one year in the making. The update was pretty timely kudos to Microsoft for that. I live in San Francisco which meant that the update would reach me at 4am PST, my local time. Being the gadget freak I'm, I could not sleep and started updating my laptop as soon as I saw the update in the store.

I have a Samsung Ativ book 6. Now the update itself was pretty seemless. The download was 3.6 GB that did not take as long as update process. Anyhow bring the gadget freak I'm,  I wanted to make sure the drivers were installed correctly. The Ativ book comes with something known as SW update, which is Samsung's driver and other software update program. This program started behaving crazy. I had to go through the whole process of searching and finding my model number and then downloaded all the drivers etc which was additional 4+ GB. Now when I installed the catalyst driver for my graphics card and Elan driver for my input devices the laptop needed a restart which I did and after this the laptop screen just went black.. it would not boot anymore.

I tried various things and then finally using the soft reset( long press power button) when the laptop restarted I pressed shift+ kept tapping F8 key which took me to recovery. Since I did not want to lose any of my data I chose to refresh the PC. These steps made my OS go back to Windows 8. Not only it went back to windows 8 it went to the same state in which I purchased it.  The recovery from Microsoft works really well. Now I wanted to get back to windows 8.1 and my store was not showing the update anymore.  I also tried to run (windows +R and type ) ms-windows-store:Windows Upgrade. No success.  Went to Microsoft website and tried to upgrade from there still nothing.

Then I used a feature that comes with Samsung laptop for technical assistance S chat or something. The guy was rude and made no attempts to make me feel comfortable I told him the whole story I have written above. He told me that if I want to get that update for windows 8.1 in my store, I need to do a complete recovery and not a refresh. I told him I don't want to lose my data he said " I'm sorry back up your data on an external hard disk as this is the only way. " I thought, it can't be so I started installing all my apps from the store.  Go to store swipe the screen from top or right click mouse select your apps, again do the swipe or right click>>select all>>install.  Then I went to charms bar >>settings>>change PC settings >>checked for updates and installed all the updates... one can use control panel>> system settings >> for checking the updates too. After I installed all the updates the option to update to Windows 8.1 started showing in my store.

So why did I write this blog.  Well it's because there is limited information available about the update and the problems like refresh option from recovery and to tell you don't let any stupid customer technical support guy with no knowledge (in my case Samsung technical support).. that wiping your PC is the only option.. if update to Windows 8.1 is not showing in your store make sure you have windows updates installed.

How I trained my body for just 4 hrs of night sleep and still get complete Boost of freshness to work through the day.

This is for the first time in years of practicing this regime I am writing about it. I would not have done it and would have kept it as my closely guarded secret, but then i just figured out that a friend of mine could really benefit from this. More so there might be a number of people who actually need this. So here I am, before i start about how I went about this, I would like to share some information, background and why is it safe to do so.
First and Foremost : It saves you time. This might give you an extra edge over other people to pursue your hobbies, have more fun, have more productivity and have a fuller life than others.
FACTS:
  • A lot of you might already know this that we spend 1/3rd of our lives sleeping. That is a person who lives for 75 years spends 25 years sleeping. 25 years O my god ! i would say how about reducing it to 1/6th or may be 1/5th so that i spend 15 years in bed sleeping and get some 10-12 years extra for myself. Wouldn’t that be great.
  • People with the longest sleep times (9 or 10 hours) seem to be more introverted, imaginative, or perhaps a bit depressed.People with lesser sleep times are energetic, outgoing and creative (They have to use the extra time). Notice the surprise: People who sleep less are less depressed!
  • Something not related to sleep here :: as we all know a male body consists of 60% water and a female body is made up of almost 55% water. One might ask what does this signify ?. Ever heard about theory of evolution ? How we evolved from single cell organisms living in water to the form we are in today. Well another surprise ! Most of our body cells are still in hangover of that habit and live in water/plasma. What’s my point ? . I am just trying to say we are not meant to have those 8-10-12 hours of sleep. Our bodies do not need it and our brains are not designed for it.
  • Our bodies require only as much sleep as our brain would allow it. As long as brain is fully functioning there is no need to be sleeping.
Still not convinced !! hmmm well you are a tough nut to crack :) .. so i would like to present some researches..
  • In a recent study, researchers at NASA showed that a 30-minute power nap increased cognitive faculties by approximately 40 percent! Tests carried out on one thousand volunteers proved that those who continued working without rest, made lower scores in intelligence tests like the IQ test. More importantly, their capacities to work and memorize decreased in comparison to those who napped after lunch.
In concordance with NASA’s work, biology students at Berkeley determined that the nap must be short in order to produce maximum effectiveness. Over forty five minutes, the beneficial effects of napping disappear and it is therefore suggested to take a fifteen to thirty five minute “power nap”. This is the time necessary for the organism to rest and enables brain neurons to recuperate.
  • Most sleep experts also recommend that whatever bedtime you allow yourself, you should not go to bed if you do not feel sleepy.  Moreover, if you awaken at night and no longer feel sleepy, get out of bed, and do not go back until you are sleepy again and expect to fall asleep.  Even after being up during the night, you should get out of bed by your regular awakening time, because sleeping late tends to make the problem worse.  Getting out of bed when you are not sleepy makes you sleepier the next night and helps maintain good sleep habits.
WHY DID I DO IT ?
I have been an Insomniac since I was a kid. But later on in life around 16-17 i started sleeping a lot and this continued till i was 20. Though when i was 16 i did a project on sleep for my Biology class, which went on to become a huge project from just another school project and i realized 85% of the people i carried out my research on, were suffering from sleep related issues. This research involved more than 10,000 Males and Females across all age groups. Then when i was 20 something, one day my mom reminded me of that project and how i used to sleep almost nil at an early age. This renewed my interest in sleep and I thought to myself:
What has changed ? Nothing!! so basically i was just wasting my time in bed without my body needing it. Yes, and as a matter of fact i was even forcing it to fall asleep. This was certainly making me feel that i was not energetic as i used to be earlier. Now that does not mean i was slow, i was doing very well at studies and sports in fact much better than a lot of people, still that level of energy was not satisfactory for me.
HERE IS WHAT I CHANGED.
I straight away took two hours away from my night sleep and reduced it to to 6 hrs with absolutely no ill effects on my body and mind. I did it by not going to bed unless i was drowsy. I also stopped hitting the snooze button also one can try keeping the alarm clock a little away from bed so now when you go to hit the snooze button, do not go back to bed and start your day. This way i was able to straight away save 2 hrs everyday. I made sure to Jog and exercise for some time every morning i woke up, that could have been a factor though i would recommend it, I don’t have any research supporting this except my own experience. WORKED for me.
I gradually reduced it to 3 and a half to 4 hours over next 15 days period. By gradually i mean i divided the rest 2 hours i needed to reduce in 7 equal part i.e.. around 17 minutes. So every 2nd day i would wake up 17 minutes earlier. I got used to this Habit pretty fast.
“Remember that if anything, the short sleepers tend to live longer and be less depressed.  If you are willing to stay out of bed and amuse yourself somewhere else when you are not sleepy, soon you will stop worrying about sleep.  If you lose a whole night’s sleep or part of a night, so what?  It will not be so bad, as long as you do not worry about it.  When you do go to bed (because you are finally sleepy), you will have restored your confidence that you are likely to fall asleep, so the long-term problem resolves.”
There may be some tendency for people with the shortest sleep times (5 or 6 hours) to be outgoing and energetic, whereas people with the longest sleep times (9 or 10 hours) seem to be more introverted, imaginative, or perhaps a bit depressed.  Notice the surprise!  People who sleep less are less depressed!
(The above two Paras are taken from the book BRIGHTEN YOUR LIFE By Daniel F. Kripke, M.D.*)
Well after seeing the considerable improvements in time I was getting each day for stuff i wanted to do. I took it even further. I reduced 1/2 hr from my night sleep and started a day time sleep after lunch for 30 minutes. Do remember day time naps more than 30 minutes wont help the powernap should be of 20-30 minutes. Because more than that will again make your brain and body lazy. As i stated above in the NASA study.
Scientists have even proven that taking a 20-minute nap approximately eight hours after you have awaken will do more for your stamina than sleeping another 20 minutes in the morning. Of course when you first come out of your afternoon nap, you will feel a bit groggy for around ten minutes, but once your decline in motor dexterity dissipates, you will reap the rewards of being well rested and ready to go for the rest of the day.
These short 20-minute power naps for people who are really engrossed in their work, almost always provide a fresh burst of new ideas and energy. They tend to eliminate the need for caffeine boosts during the workday. And, they guarantee a reserve of energy so that the working day isn’t followed by an evening in which he falls asleep on the couch watching TV or at a social event.
Our sleep consists of cycles and breaking the cycle in between can leave you sleepless. A typical healthy human’s sleep cycle consists of 90-120 minutes. So a 2 hour or a 4 hours sleep is a complete sleep. But that needs to be accompanied by 2 Power Naps in the afternoon. Remember we are not trying to deprive body of sleep. We are trying to give it exactly what it needs so that we are energetic and comfortable for the full day so don’t loose out on Power Naps.
Power Naps and Short Naps.. in short sleeping less is good for heart and there are many researches to prove it.
It is like food, Over eating never helps but can cause obesity. Eating what is good and eating it in right amounts helps.
I will give you my Routine if anyone’s interested::
Night time :: 4 hrs sleep / 240 minutes :: I only go to bed when i feel sleepy else i don’t go to bed at all even if i have to start the next day. Remember its only a problem if you keep thinking at work, how can I do it i have not slept the whole night. So get to work.
DAY time :: 2 Power naps 20-30 minutes each ::
  • One exactly after Lunch i.e. 6  hours after waking up (6 am i am up).
  • Second one exactly half an hour before i go to play squash/football. For example: I play squash at 1930 hrs so sleep at 1900 hrs. In case your office keeps you late there you can take one Power Nap after you are back from office. Have dinner and take a power nap or wake up and have dinner. Now you don’t need to sleep before 3 or 4 am and you are still fresh. So get to whatever you like. :)
  • I prefer Listening to soft music on low volume during these Power naps, The likes of “Come Undone” by Duran Duran, you can decide if you too want music.

Can not Delete User accounts on Windows XP? Here is a solution..

This problem might be faced sometimes on PCs with XP SP 3 where there is no delete option in the control panel >> User accounts.  Also at times one might want to change the default username from administrator to something of one’s own liking. I have found the easiest way to do this here is the procedure:  1. Go to Start     OR press Windows+R and skip to step 3
2. Run
3. Type “control userpasswords2″ (without the quotes).
4. Then in the User Account screen, select the user you want to delete.
5. Click “Remove”.
6. When it asks you “Are you sure?” click Yes.
NOTE: There are lots of other options to play with.. HAVE FUN

Gtalk or Chrome or picasa not installing due to windows in audit mode::

Sometime one may come across this problem of not being able to install a few softwares due to windows being in audit mode. here i will tell you how to remove / get rid of windows Audit Mode. But before that a little intro about Audit Mode, this is for OEM packages and allows for lots of customizations. Manufacturers can install their own utilities, drivers and UI on their systems for a customized look and feel, this is all done in Audit Mode.

Here is how to get rid of it:

1. Go to Start > Run.
2. In the window that appears, enter "regedit" ** and click OK.
3. Navigate to the following directory in your registry:
  - For Windows 7: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\State
  - For Vista: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\State
  - For XP: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Setup

**On Vista and Windows 7 you will be asked “Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to your computer.” >>>>>  Click OK.

4. -For Windows 7 and Windows Vista, find the value of 'ImageState'.

-For Windows XP, find the value of 'AuditInProgress'.

5. Now right-click the registry key and select Modify copy the Value which will look like “IMAGE_STATE_UNDEPLOYABLE” and save it somewhere on your PC. Now delete this value and with the value field remaining blank Click OK and close this window. Now you are DONE.

Windows 7 and Vista users would be able to install their programs right after this while XP users might need to restart their PC.

Hope it helps.

Don’t forget to comment.

What do we want to be happy?

I just sat thinking today, I have my new car now but am I really really happy about it?  I was so damn happy and on cloud nine when I got my first bicycle. We are really becoming so fast in life that all the good things and all the happiness that's there do not last more than a minute. I see around me the same thing goes with relationships. There are times when I used to feel maybe I need someone of my age (read "a girlfriend") to share my thoughts, to share my feelings and to fulfill my emotional needs, but everywhere around me people who have such privileges are either fighting with each other, or are unsatisfied emotionally because they increase their expectations from their counterpart without realizing that the counterpart may have expectations too. So easy to point finger at others but in reality, they themselves are the other side of the coin. Why are we so blind? Why are we unable to accept our mistakes and shortcomings? Until unless we realize how wrong we are, we won't be able to forgive ourselves and move on life. Something in me tells me this short-lived happiness and our inability to take life slowly and enjoy its small happiness is the reason behind it all. I will talk about a female friend of mine and a great guy friend. He is a nice, lovable guy, which she realized and she being good herself they were bound to get together, I knew it the moment I introduced them. It was all cool till the time we all were meeting in our groups. Then they started going out, let's call the guy A and the girl B. Now A proposed to B to which she promptly said yes to. They became close but happened next was unusual, every positive quality of A was now unbearable for B. she used to love him for being manly now she thinks he can't understand her (which means he can't think like a girl and be sissy). She used to love his stunts now she feels he is too embarrassing at public places. Things that made her laugh now irritate her. She admired his intelligence now she has her own self assumed thought that he thinks she is not smart enough. I would say, girl, you always knew he was smart that's what attracted you to him, then why suddenly this inferiority, he is not feeling inferior coz he is not as good looking as you so neither should you be insecure about his qualities. The reason for me to blog this is if someone with the similar problem comes and reads this maybe he/she still has time to understand its no one's faults but theirs and they should be able to keep and protect their relationships. Well the story goes on more.. the guy had to leave to the US for some of his work, and that's when the real irritation for me began. This B tried to find comfort in other people. She used to show them that she is emotionally weak and vulnerable and in reality, she was using them to get what she wanted. Is it fair for her to go and sleep with somebody else just because she has a few misunderstandings with this guy without breaking up with him? During her short stints, she realized that A is the right guy for her. Now that A is back she is again happily going around with him. Now, what am I supposed to do both are my friends. Should I keep my eyes closed about how she cheated on his back in spite of knowing everything or should I tell the truth though my friend is not asking me? I have a feeling that since my friend A never doubts her he would never inquire about her but I think she can never be true to him for the rest of his life. I have made up my mind, made up my mind to stand with what?s right and stand against what?s wrong in next 3 days I am going to let A know what B has done. A small warning for all such A?s leaving their B?s for some tours or work?.be very very careful. Women have deteriorated more than men in their moral values. They are becoming insatiable. You treat them well they want to be treated like hot babes. You treat them like hot babes they feel you treat them like a whore and don't love them. Wake up guys don?t be trapped either be ready for short-lived happiness's or CRY. Your life YOU DECIDE.

AHMEDABAD-JODHPUR Road Trip

Ahmedabad To Jodhpur By Road

The purpose of my writing this post is to provide an idea to people who are planning to travel from Ahmedabad to Jodhpur via road in car or on a bike. I travelled on my bike Yamaha R15.

Distance Travelled- 460 Kms.

Time Taken- 6 Hrs including a lunch break and a few Photography halts.

The Route. Red pins are the important Landmarks of the trip.
The Route. Red pins are the important Landmarks of the trip.

Route Taken ---Ahmedabad - Chandkheda - Mehsana Toll Highway - Mehsana - Palanpur - Abu Road - Pali-Jodhpur.

The roads right from Mehsana highway to Abu Road are really very good its a four lane highway, two lanes for each direction. The journey is a pleasure and can be taken very easily on bike or in car. My usual riding speed was 130-135 Kms/hr, though I would not recommend to ride at such speeds on bike. Just carry a little water nothing much needs to be carried as there are a lots of places where one can buy stuff on the way. If asked for my view I would say an overcast is the best weather to travel but if you are in car, it weather won't make much of a difference. The road after Abu Road is a two lane National Highway no more dividers. The road is ok. Ok does not mean bad but it is not as good as Mehsana to Abu Road one.

The distances and directions written on the way are very very clear so there is never a need to Ask for directions, however if you are carrying a GPS then nothing like it. Please be careful about the signs reading populated area ahead slow down, follow these signs they are really well placed and warn you well before U can make a mistake. Slow down wherever written accident prone zone because they really are and I experienced it myself that slowing down was necessary there.

It will take you no time to reach Sirohi, an average driver takes approximately 4 Hrs to reach Sirohi from Ahmedabad, where I would recommend to take a lunch break at Baba Ramdev Restaurant which is actually a Dhaba. This is a nice and hygienic place with some nice facilities. There is also a hotel with the same name where one can halt if too tired to carry on for the journey. From this dhaba it takes approximately 2 or 2 1/2 Hrs to reach Jodhpur.

Baba Ramdev Restaurant and Hotel Sirohi.  Picture 023

Please Ask for directions here at the Dhaba as there is a turn to be taken for National Highway to Jodhpur.

On the way there are a few picturesque locations where you can take a halt for photography. There are a plenty of company operated filling stations on the way so one need not worry about fuel though its always recommended to have a safe quantity always in your tank when on a journey.

Child Lost !!!!!

How many of us do really know .. What it means when the child in you is lost?
No one can know this better than me. Being a child till now (age of 24), being joyous and spreading a cheerful aura wherever i went, i never knew all this would change one day so suddenly that i would sit, cry and fight to get back that child in me but he wont come...he is lost with someone so special and loved in the family that it makes me think, is life really how we take it ? or is it that someone is actually controlling it from somewhere else. In times like this i feel if a person lives a healthy life, it is real luck for him, with so many new diseases coming up everyday, so many new reasons to die e.g a taste for adventure that leads to loving high speeds and risking everything for a minute of fun. For those who come out of it is fun, for those who won't its a nightmare may be not for them but for those who are left behind.
I have been pretty much adventurous myself I hardly find guys my age as adventurous as me I have always been ahead of times at least here around me, but then i think is it me who is doing all these stunts? Is it me who took that risk and came out to tell all about it? NO, is my answer. There are a few different ways to look at it. Though one may argue that one can not just sit
and do nothing about things but i would say one can just sit and not take unnecessary risks in life.
A rookie guy does a stunt for first time and comes out fine to talk about it, while a pro tries that same thing and meets with a horrible accident, isn't it something we all have heard one or the other time. A guy who doesn't know swimming falls in deep water like lake or pond and comes out simply by splashing his hands and legs randomly while a pro swimmer dies in a swimming pool what do you think is the reason? Doesn't it all make you wonder what if your life is not really yours? What if someone else is governing it? What if you think you control your life and say you break a jar to prove it no one can stop you yeah rite smile but may be actually someone wanted you to do it and made you do it in this way so smartly that you keep thinking you are in control of yourself? What if whatever i said above was wrong?
Questions, questions and more questions but hardly any answers but yes at least we can stop taking risk with lives because life once lost can not be brought back. This is one irreparable loss, if a few people can follow this they can prevent a child in someone somewhere from getting lost..that child can continue to spread cheer and joy around..Save the child in you for good.

Complex isn't it ?

Everything that begins has an end to it.. this is something we have grown up knowing, seeing and learning from what is around us, but when i start to think of it my mind sometimes stops being reasonable and brings me to a kind of junction between spirituality and science i would like to call it SPIRIENCE (SPIRItuality+sciENCE ). There is a notable reason for me to put spirituality before science in the new term i coined. This reminds me to quote Swami Vivekananda,
                                 "
Religion deals with the truths of the metaphysical world, just as chemistry and the other natural sciences deal with the truth of the physical world. The book one must read to learn chemistry is the book of (external) nature. The book from which to learn religion is your own mind and heart. The sage is often ignorant of physical science, because he reads the wrong book - the book within and the scientist is too often is ignorant of religion, because he, too, reads the wrong book - the book without".
Such an intelligent choice of words. This sometimes leads me to wonder is there really a science? i question science because the so called scientists (who study science) renounce spirituality, whereas spirituality always co existed with science. My feeble mind can only think of science as the laws of nature created by the supreme to keep us bound in some limits so that we can not create havoc in the most beautiful of his creations. Something similar to what happens to Neo in the Matrix, he was bound by laws which actually never existed but when he realizes himself he could do whatever he wanted. Matrix itself was a fancy rip-off of the holy Geeta (compilation of words spoken by Lord Krishna in the battlefield). The point is of self realization. Is it so that once you have realization you will know the begining of it all. The begining of time-the begining of god. What would it lead to?.. heaven or is it just a human imagination.
There are many studies trying to find a relation indirectly like a study that was carried out on more than 20,000 people and it was acertained that lonely, sad, socially less active and less loved people had comparatively shorter lifespan. Here comes my question isn't it that medical science tells us that logevity of life depends on genes, DNA and on cellular level, so how come these things in the study mentioned above ..reached the genes. To support my opinion i have one more question.
How do such human experiences as job satisfaction, happiness, and meditation get into the cells? There is a physiology of loving and caring, ranging from embarrassing facial blush to palpitations, sweating and stammering. Feelings of love generate physical events. It may seem a distant transition from being in love in one's teens to being a confidant or a supportive spouse later in life, but physiologic changes are involved on both ends of the spectrum. These changes are not trivial. They can make the difference between life and death. There are instances of people who really fought for their life and came out alive out of seemingly impossible situations which may look like a miracle, then there are others who were saved by someone and they admitted they did not even fight to be alive.
What is it that encourages one man to fight against all odds and the other to just give up? Why so many times the thoughts of families boost one's morale to fight. Muscles also reach a fatigue level then what is it that keeps them going? Is it just BRAIN or there is a SOUL / MIND too, carrying our weights which connects to other souls (souls of people we love) in such a strange way that despite physical distance and actual encouragements one gets strength to fight.

Only if we could find the connection........

VARANASI-BANARES-BENARES-BANARAS >Mesmerising, Exhilarating, Enchanting and Beautiful.

There is certainly no place in the whole world that can boast of such a beautiful mixture of spiritualism and a materialistic world such as Varanasi also known as Kashi. The place is as old as history goes. If legends are to be believed this city was founded by Lord Shiva 5000 years ago, and if history or so called scientific history is to be believed this city is atleast 3000  years old. I would like to quote a famous American writer Mark Twain here, he wrote: "Benares is older than history, older than tradition, older even than legend, and looks twice as old as all of them put together."

The Beautiful Morning at Ganges (Ganga), Varanasi 2009.

During my recent visit to the city I was truly overwhelmed by the spiritual feeling the city holds. Mornings in Varanasi are the most beautiful ones, and I am sure no one who has been to Varanasi would disagree. Its a city of temples. you just can't count them. The city has a beautiful religious history. Some of the credit can be given to Ganga river, the most important and respected river in SANATAN DHARMA or popularly known as HINDUISM, the river is so much respected that everyday in the evening a special prayer event takes place.Varanasi has narrow winding lanes that remind you of community living in ancient India and to westerners or Europeans it would remind one of lanes in Spain.

Sadhu (Sage) From Varanasi...

In Hindu mythology, it is believed that bathing in the river Ganga causes the remission of sins and facilitates the attainment of salvation or nirvana. People travel from distant places to immerse the ashes of their kin in the waters of the Ganga at Varanasi. Some of these sacred places, located on the Ganga, are Varanasi, Haridwar and Prayag (Allahabad). The mouth of River Ganga forms a vast delta, the Sundarban delta (the largest delta in the world).
B.H.U-  It is not just spiritualism but also culture and progress of Varanasi worth mentioning here. Banaras Hindu University is one of the top three residential universities in the world. The Banaras Hindu University has a sprawling campus, spanning across 1300 acres. It has well maintained roads (crossing each other at right angle), extensive greenery, a temple, an airstrip and buildings, which are an architectural delight. There is another campus of the Banaras Hindu University at Barkachha, in Mirzapur district, covering an area of 2700 acres.

Banaras Hindu University also has 6 centers of advanced studies, 10 Departments under Special Assistance Programme and a large number of specialized Research Centers. There are four Degree Colleges in Varanasi that are affiliated to the BHU. The Banaras Hindu University consists of about 15000 students, coming from to all streams of life, castes, religions and races. It has about 2000 teachers and nearly 5000 non-teaching staff. Another important feature of the BHU is the number of foreign students. A large number of students come from the U.S.A., Europe, Asia, Middle East, Africa, etc.
HANDICRAFTS : Varanasi has hailed as a leading center for some of the finest Indian handicrafts. The most renowned craft of Varanasi city is silk weaving. Banarasi Sarees', produced by local craftsman are among the most preferred, not only in India but also all over the world. Besides the famous Benarasi Sari, brassware, copperware, ivory work, glass bangles, wood, stone and clay toys and exquisite gold jewellery are some of the other crafts Varanasi city is famous for. Among the other shopping attractions of Varanasi and surrounding areas are the Bhadohi Carpets and musical instruments.
